The greatest need in our nation today is Revival. In fact the ONLY hope for America is Revival. We must have a massive move of the Holy Spirit to answer the extreme problems we face. Nothing else will do. There is no other prescription. God-birthed, God-breathed Revival that gives way to the Third Great Awakening is our only hope.
First off… My apologies for the lack of blogging during the month of March. With the addition of weekly awakening services my schedule and life has been turned upside down. Hopefully I’ll find the blogging rhythm once again. Here’s an update on the awakening meetings and some additional thoughts.
We just completed our 10th weekend of extended meetings and my heart is so grateful for all that the Lord has done and simultaneously so hungry for more of His presence. This past weekend we baptized 20 people and saw several more give there lives to the Lord. My favorite baptism was a guy that got saved, spirit-filled and slain in the spirit last weekend and then baptized in water, making a public profession of his faith, this weekend. The fun part is that he works at IHOP (the pancake place). Read More
Last week a pastor in our city sent me a message telling me about a dream he had in which he was being choked by a demon. He could barely utter the name Jesus and when He did the spirit loosed it’s hold on his throat. The Lord spoke to him in the dream and said the spirit was the “anti-spirit of Josiah”.
Having been a youth pastor for 13 years prior to planting IHOP-Atlanta, I know what it looks like when God grips teens. You can’t make teens “get on fire”, you can’t talk them into it. But when they get touched by the power of God, the sky is the limit on how radical they will become. Read More
James 4:8 says, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you…” I love James’ promise that if we draw near to God, He will draw near to us. This verse has long been a source of courage for me in my pursuit of heaven, for I know if I seek Him, I will find Him.
Isaiah offers another perspective… Isa 55:6 says, “Seek the LORD while He may be found; call upon Him while He is near.” Isaiah makes it clear that there are divinely appointed seasons when God draws near. It is in these times that we are admonished to respond to the Lord by seeking Him in a focused way. The point is, when God comes near, we are to press pause on other engagements and draw near to God with hearts of hunger and faith. Read More
Something unusual has happened here at IHOP-Atlanta the last few weekends. It’s difficult to explain any encounter with the Lord. You never want to hype or overstate anything. But simultaneously you want to credibly do justice to what has happened. As I considered how I might faithfully relate what the Lord has been doing in our midst, I was reminded of Jesus’ words to John the Baptist’s disciples, “Go and tell … the things you have seen and heard…” (Luke 7:22). So here it goes… Read More
How do I explain what happened this weekend? It’s nearly impossible to communicate in a blog, but I will do my best.
Let me start by saying that I have a great distaste for hype or self-promotion. I have a great value for reality and truth, especially when it comes to testifying of the works of the Lord. I dont’ think exaggeration helps anyone. With that said, I hope what I share next stirs your hunger and faith.
This past weekend at IHOP-Atlanta we had a leadership summit with about 70 leaders from around the nation. We were gathering to receive strategy and impartation to build the houses of prayer. My good friend David Sliker, from IHOP-KC, has ministered with me and others in this event for the past five years. This year was different because He and I were the only speakers. Read More
This is a good summary of what’s happening at IHOP-KC. I especially like the testimony of the woman whose teeth began to grow back underneath her dentures. More LORD!
