ABOUT

ABOUT … as in about me.  It’s always a little awkward describing yourself in easy to read, short, bite-size portions that are concise enough to maintain interest, yet pithy enough to convey substance.  I generally describe myself in the following terms: Lover of Jesus, Husband, Father, Intercessory Missionary, Director of IHOP-ATL. Here’s a bit about each in order of importance:

__________________________________________________________________________

Lover of Jesus – the foundation of my life is my relationship with Jesus. I live daily with great desire to encounter Him in all that He is.  The prime pursuits of my life are to know Him and love Him. My soul continually beckons to me that I am made for more than what I see. So, I eagerly await the day that I will see His face and the journey of this life will be   culminated in ecstasy that a billion years won’t exhaust. Til then I am His and my greatest desire is to love Him in all I say  and do.

__________________________________________________________________________

Husband – In 1992 I married an incredibly beautiful woman who has since become my best friend. Maribeth and I have grown in love as we have grown in life. She is the most pleasant person I’ve ever met, the hardest working lady I know and  tougher than anyone would believe. Everything else in my life would be impossible without her.

__________________________________________________________________________

Father September 2010 the Lord blessed us with our fourth child and first daughter, Mariah Rain. She had me wrapped before she even came out of the womb.

My three dudes are the joy of my life. I love to say “we have a family love affair.” Maribeth & I both agree that our guys are far better children than we are parents. Evan, Siah and Coby are all unique in their personalities. Between the three of them we have a musician, an athlete and an artist. We laugh daily, play continually, talk regularly and love thoroughly.

__________________________________________________________________________

Intercessory Missionary – I have the best job in the world. It may seem crazy to some, but I am incredibly blessed to spend the greatest portion of my time praying to an unseen God in a mostly empty room. Prayer isn’t the only thing I do, it’s the first thing. And yes, if you’re wondering, I do raise my own support, just like the rest of my staff.

__________________________________________________________________________

Director of IHOP-ATL – This is my spiritual family. Since February, 2006 the fire of prayer has continued to burn brightly as the centerpiece of our community. I am honored and humbled to lead the amazing people at IHOP-Atlanta.  They are my heroes. They are giving their lives to the Lord in abandonment through hours of adoring worship and prayer.

    Billy,

I was in Atlanta this week on business and stumbled across IHOP Atlanta via the web. I decided to check out your Awakening service one night. As soon as I walking in the place I felt such a unity and power of God’s presence. On a personally note I have been trying to draw closer to God by really putting Him first in my life. It seems that the cares of this world have been stealing my joy, time and peace. I joining in with you guys worshiping and praising God. Immediately I felt the heaviness and weightiness of life begin to fall off of me. It amazes me how God knows right where we are at all times. He is always ready and willing to hold us and clean us up when we are a mess.

I want to personally thank you Billy for being a man of God. You spoke about Studying God emotions and His affection for us. I know that I received healing and a deeper hunger for my creator. I appreciate the honesty, humility and transparency that you exhibit. God truly has His hand on you and the IHOP Atlanta family. Again thank you for being a willing vessel.

    Gratefully,
    Chris

    Billy,
Podcasts are one of the best inventions and your work with Christ is how I get to experience that….Thanks for your dedication brother. I’m prayerfully considering a “NITRO” experience. Just gotta raise all the finance and maybe Jan 2011 I’ll be stateside…ie KC. By the way, everyone I give a cd to with your ‘casts’ I get feedback of tears and conviction….WOW!
