Sean Feucht is the founder of Burn 24-7 a grassroots global, prayer, worship and missions organization. I see “The Burn” as one of the signs of God’s unique activity in the combining of prayer & mission. Sean and his teams literally travel around the world igniting the fire of prayer and worship in the context of mission. Here’s a blog from his recent trip to Mozambique:
Pemba, Mozambique / July 9, 2013
Stranded off the Mozambiquan Coast with massive 15-foot swells pounding against the boat, still a sound came forth!
The guitars kept strumming, the djembes kept rumbling and a beautiful, crazy blend of Portuguese, English and unknown tongues rose up before the throne from the unreached islands and inlets of Africa. It was at times a frightening, yet altogether beautiful, experience the last week as our team of worshippers pressed through New Testament “Paul-esque” circumstances to see worship shine forth.
From the first few hours on the ground in Africa, we launched right into it! That morning we worshipped with hundreds of hungry hearts from nearly 40 nations in the IRIS global harvest school on the base in Pemba. It was explosive, powerful and seemed unending at times, as there is such a grace here to worship. Right off the plane from the 30-hour trip, we launched into a base-wide meeting that culminated with a Holy Ghost funk-joy-rave-fusion where we danced the night away!
There is fresh accessibility to God that comes from increased vulnerability when cozy Western conditions are removed and we are lumped together in the red dirt of one of the poorest nations on earth. These factors create a dependent and beautiful “wide open” space for people to encounter God is a new way. It happens every time!
We then jumped in a brand new Iris bush-plane with Rolland and Heidi Baker and several other leaders for a village outreach. That night we held a meeting in the bush where we worshiped, shared the love of Jesus and saw the most incredible miracles take place! The blind saw, the lame walked and many were saved! We camped in tents under the stars dreaming with God for every dark place in Africa to be filled with this Light! Before we flew out the next morning, we gathered together enough money to buy a building for the new church to meet in. The chiefs and people were filled with overwhelming joy!
We landed back in Pemba and directly boarded the boat for what was the some of the most beautiful 3 days I have experienced ever in missions. This is where I leave you to watch this update to truly “catch” all that God released and imparted along the journey…
